Paulig 1750
NINE GENERATIONS
Founded in 1750 by master clothier Johann Christian Paulig in Sommerfeld, Paulig has evolved into a family-run manufactory now in its ninth generation, headquartered in Schwarzach am Main, Germany. The company regards itself not as a factory, but as a true manufactory—a place defined by handcrafting (from Latin manus “hand” and factura “making”). Every stage of production—including sheep-shearing, dyeing, spinning, weaving, knotting, and finishing—is carried out by artisans to ensure high quality and soul-infused craftsmanship.
NATURAL FIBRES AND DYES
Paulig presents a range of handcrafted rugs in collections such as Salsa and Beat. The Salsa line is celebrated for refined designs rich in variety and experimental flair, while the Beat collection focuses on durability, simplicity, and modern aesthetics, using 100% new wool. At the heart of Paulig’s philosophy are sustainability, fair working conditions, and ecological responsibility. They employ natural raw materials such as wool, jute, cotton, hemp, sisal, and silk—and use non-toxic, Öko-Tex Standard 100 certified moth protection and Swiss eco-dyeing agents. Their entire value chain is transparent—from washing wool with pure water through to finished rugs—allowing careful environmental stewardship and consistent quality. Paulig is also a member of STEP Fairtrade Carpets, supporting fair wages, child labor prevention, independent oversight, and eco-friendly practices.

MORROCAN ROOTS + BERBER RUGS
Their New in 2025 offerings include the Moroccan Roots collection—customisable reinterpretations of traditional Beni Ourain rugs—as well as textured Flora Viola, the artistic Woven Art series, and distinctive shapes like Salsa Atoll Curved and Salsa Jamaica PW.
SALSA GROOVE is one of the most opulent structures in the SALSA COLLECTION. Pieces of SALSA GROOVE yarn are inserted into the base fabric at specific intervals and show a beautiful cross-section of colours within the mélange at the edges. They look slightly different in every spot. Not to mention the feeling of walking on this structure!
Price: $1,072/sqm
SALSA BASE is a modern, compact flatweave with a cosy look. It is flat enough to use on areas such as dining rooms but also, thick enough to feel cosy and soft.
SALSA BASE is available in all colors of the salsa color palette and reversible. Surface material: 100% virgin wool, max width: 600 cm.
Price: $504/sqm
BEAT TAMOURE is a delicately striped flat woven texture on black warp, which in its two-tone version is perfect for subtly adding color accents to rooms without being obtrusive. Two yarns of different thicknesses, woven alternately, are creating the special look of BEAT TAMOURE.
BEAT TAMOURE is available in one or two colors. All colors of the BEAT color palette can be used here.
Price: $487/sqm
BEAT STONE is the most voluminous carpet in the BEAT KOLLEKTION and has its charm from the use of very thick yarn. The structure can be used on both sides, guarantees a unique walking feeling and has a wonderful handmade look. The black warp yarn creates an interesting contrast within the texture.
BEAT STONE is available up to a weaving width of 400 cm.
Price: $781/sqm
