The “Soft Sensory” Movement

Via Artifort

Long have plush rugs and carpets satiated our aesthetic desire for elegance and luxury but there is new focus on its sensory benefits.

Bringing a gentle calm to the home, the soft sensory movement highlights the benefits of certain tactile sensations in your interiors as a tool of well being.

Soft carpet underfoot triggers positive feelings and associations, helping to create a soothing and pleasant environment. This is why soft fabrics and materials are integral to the design of living and bedrooms - where rest and healing take place.

The spectrum of “soft” carpet includes so many fibres it can be overwhelming. But not all soft fibres are created equally. So we have broken down a summary of your options when it comes to tactile softness in rugs and carpets.

TENCEL

The renowned branded fibre is derived from sustainably sourced wood pulp. Known for its softness, breathability, and eco-friendliness, Tencel offers a shiny lustre with medium wearability excellent for a sustainable bedroom carpet or rug. Our go to brands for Tencel are Ligne Pure and Jacaranda.
