Van Besouw
Established in 1839 Van Besouw has long history. Starting as a weaver of jute bags and evolving to a brand of contemporary carpet. We are proud of that. By 1967, Van Besouw is now a carpet factory with a continuing drive to innovate, steering clear from the standards of the day and away from copying their contemporaries. Industrial designer Benno Premsela is invited to lead a design team. A special assignment: "Develop a carpet based on the idea that no carpet has ever been made before". The result is a revolutionary cotton carpet. A knitted loop carpet, with the name 3801. A combination that shakes up the market. An unusual raw material for carpet and a totally innovative production method. 3801 has often been imitated, but never equalled. It is precisely the combination of knitting and cotton that gives the famous loop carpet its special luxury character. In the past 180 years a lot has passed and with a long history, Van Besouw is still a leader in the market. Just like 180 years ago there remains a continuous drive for innovation.
